Uncle Milton Illuminated Ant Farm Gel Colony Review
I live in NY, ordered two of these, mailed both coupons for free ants separately each with a check for shipping back on April 1. Today is June 25 and i received my first tube of ants. about 25% of them were dead on arrival but i didnt mind because there were plenty of living ants and they are already chomping on the gel.
the only reason i bothered with this, my first review, even though i've been an amzn customer before their stock went crazy high is because i was puzzled that after waiting a month they still did not deposit either of my checks. i got the ants today 6/25 and neither check was deposited. repeated emails were ignored with canned responses, of course i dont expect cortesy when i am demanding my ants and informing uncle milton that i need ants in me pants.
i hate to mention it because it shouldn't stop you from buying one of these fabulous toys but one of the gel cubes was not solid, its as if the liquid gel was dried at a 45% angle leaving a large gap so now the ants are hanging out in the middle of the gel cube and they didnt have to dig in order to get there. i could have been a gimp and mailed it back for a perfect cube but why bother? its like i order a ham and cheese with mustard and they forget the mustard, i dont really care.
also it says you gotta open the top once a week to refresh the air...hell no, my alternate solution is to suck one of the two holes with my mouth thus pulling in fresh air from the other hole. i'll be sucking in a week's worth of stale ant air but who knows it may prove to be an aphrodisiac.

Do not order any type of ant farm from any company - Ryan -
Buying these ant farms are a complete rip off. You do not want to purchase these if you plan on collecting your own ants because its practically impossible, and if you plan on buying your ants then i still wouldnt but these products because its just a plastic colony with gel. It's honestly a rip off, and I have not seen any reviews of ants that have shipped properly within a reasonable amount of time without dying. Furthermore, the companies are impossible to get in contact with. It's almost retarded how difficult it is to do a do-it-yourself ant farm, I figured in this day and age we would have some reliable company to sell catching tools and farms. Furthermore, this farm was wayyyyyy smaller than I expected it to be, so Im very unimpressed in general with the ant farm vendors. Just do it on your own with a dust pan, a giant ant pile, and a large jar, Im sure it will do just as well.

I've never even had the opportunity for my kids to use this product, which they got for Christmas. I sent off for the ants in early March, thinking they should arrive when it would not freeze and before it got too hot. Over two months later in May (which can be hot in Tennessee), I got an email warning to watch for ants to arrive and to get them out of the mailbox right away. I got home that day to find them dead in the mailbox - would have helped to have warning or instructions to the postmaster to leave them in the shade or at least not a metal box. When I tried to get in touch with Uncle Milton customer service TWO DIFFERENT TIMES, all I got was an acknowledgement email. They never bothered to get back in touch with me.
I would not recommend buying any products from this company since they aren't going to bother to help with any problems.

I have now had to return not one but TWO of these because the LED light didn't function properly. You'd think after the first one, I would have received one that was well tested, but no. Forget the LED thing...just buy the good ol' fashioned ant farm for less!!
